Wolfie won three firsts, three seconds, Reserve Amateur Adult 2’6” Hunter and Grand Amateur 2’5” Equitation.

Hi Elizabeth,

Well what a weekend!
This was Wolfie’s first USEF/USHJA rated show. We opted to do the full (5 classes) Low Adult Hunter Division at the height we had been doing rather than try to do a 3’ Division. I am hoping by the Fall we will be ready for that.

Anyway, we shipped in to the Plantation Equestrian Center on Friday afternoon and schooled. It was a hazy overcast day that stayed relatively ‘cool’. We had been here before, but of course our classes were in the one ring we had not shown in.

Being a rated show brought out some new competitors and there were between 6 and 9 in our classes. The format was 2 over fences classes on each day, with one being the new (old) Handy Hunter class that was similar to an Equitation course with some roll back turns.

We placed in all our classes and won Reserve. I was very pleased that we placed in all our classes and with our flat work as we have worked the last 3 weeks or so on getting more extension and improving his movement. We got a second in the US class which was a major improvement over our prior placings in U/S.

We also did a ‘mini-medal’ equitation class on Sunday and placed second.

Of course being in South Florida in JULY I thought at times we would both melt but we hosed Wolfie between classes and had fans to put on him and bless him – he shared the breeze with me….

This may be our last update until late August when the West Palm Beach County Horseman’s Association season starts after the July break. We’ll be working on perfecting our flat further (consistency) and of course our timing, pace, and distances.

Josh is attaching some pictures to this message and when he has time will send another one with a link to a YouTube video…..

All our best to B&B and of course you and Barry.

Laurie, Josh and Wolfie.
