Da’boys – Chilletecaux and Dakota Spirit Check In

Chilletecaux begins his sport horse training with Jane Chance.

Hi Elizabeth,

Just thought I’d give you an update on da’ boys. We’ve been working on the basics. Bending on the circle, picking up the leads I ask for and paying attention inside the ring. Everything in the other ring and paddocks is sooo much more interesting but they are learning to refocus better all the time.

Chilletecaux generally is first out since he doesn’t seem to mind the dark (5:30-6am) given the main light is over the dressage ring & I ride mostly in the big ring. His good sense of his surroundings keeps him comfortable in the dark corners, haven’t run into the fence yet! By the time we’re done it’s pretty light anyway.

Dakota Spirit begins training with Jane Chance.

May start trading off to get Dakota Spirit sharper given he’s a little too content to let me tell him things he should pay more attention to himself, some awareness in the dark is good. He’s so sweet I have to watch I don’t baby him.

Today was the first time Dakota had to get out before breakfast – his stablemate was so good we were back early. He implored Fermin to feed him and stop this horse abuse… we laughed and Fermin made sure his breakfast was out in the paddock for him.
