Rocky Bear & Elizabeth

Rocky Bear and Bits & Bytes Farm owner - Elizabeth

This Web site was created to tell the stories of the Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds Bits & Bytes Farm has sold. The Mission of Bits & Bytes Farm is to help sellers (of Thoroughbred racehorses for sale) to find buyers who have the ability to transition these horses to new careers. We offer assistance and guidance to make sure the horses we sell are successfully placed. Our Success Stories are proof that Thoroughbred racehorses make great sport horses and family members when their racing careers are over.

When a horse is purchased with the assistance of Bits & Bytes Farm, we require the new owners to stay in touch and provide us with updates. These updates are posted on our Success Stories pages so that the sellers of the horses know that their horses are doing well and have not gone back to racing or been slaughtered. The sellers care about these wonderful Thoroughbreds and they too enjoy reading about their horses' successful new careers. They often call or e-mail to thank us for finding a home for a horse they bred or trained. To learn more about Bits & Bytes Farm and our mission please visit our Web site at: www.BitsandBytesFarm.com.

An update from trainer, Caileigh: “Woody” has been wonderful and his owners are absolutely in love with him. They have renamed him, “Gus” and his show name will be “Blind Date”, which we all thought was very appropriate! We have been having a blast with him. We gave him a bath today and he drank…

Nothing Special . . . Yeah Right!

I worry and don’t want to let her down by not doing stuff right and maybe mess her up and not justify the trust you and Dr Duffy put in me with her–but………..at the end of the day—the single only thing that really really matters….is how much she and I are into each other…how much we give and do for each other . . .

My Home for a Covered Riding Ring!

Well all I have to say is I wish I had a covered arena!! Between the work and weather I have had a hard time with any consistency with “Mac” (Carmac). This being said I’ve decided to do what little I can on nice days that the footing is not horrible and just continue with…

Admiration is All About Being a Sport Horse

Just wanted to drop you a line to say thanks for the advice about Huey’s weight gain issues. He’s starting to put on some more weight; he’s still a little ribby but he’s looking thicker through the barrel. I added flax to his feed and have just been making sure he always has good quality…

OTTB Nature is a Natural Hit with His New Family

We got real busy with getting the farm ready for winter (and have not had time to send an update)! Nature aka “Father Nature” is so wonderful, he is a gentle giant! I just got some corrective shoeing done about two weeks ago he’s got lots more heel now. Thank you so much! I would…

Three Years Later – Three Blues, A Red and a Reserve Championship!

Laurie asked me to send some photos to you from a show she and Austins Wolfe attended yesterday with the Plantation Acres Saddle Club. After working through some “Thoroughbred moments” during warm up the team did a great job and won three blue ribbons, one red ribbon and the Reserved Championship in Green Hunter. Joshua (the…

Why Did the Moose Cross the Road? To Find a Great Home

“Moose”, aka Popular One, is great. He really trusts us. We are absolutely thrilled with him. He is so laid back. He is very calm. I think he loves his new life. We have taken it very slow with him. He is in a pasture during the day with three other geldings and gets along…

Ready to Show, Ready to Go!

After taking Bobby off the market pending Taylor’s getting to know him a bit, we feel he is ready to be considered by the right rider, so have placed him back on the market. His training and entries in competitions will continue until the right rider and home come along for him, and hopefully his competition record will reflect his obvious talent.
