Rocky Bear & Elizabeth

Rocky Bear and Bits & Bytes Farm owner - Elizabeth

This Web site was created to tell the stories of the Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds Bits & Bytes Farm has sold. The Mission of Bits & Bytes Farm is to help sellers (of Thoroughbred racehorses for sale) to find buyers who have the ability to transition these horses to new careers. We offer assistance and guidance to make sure the horses we sell are successfully placed. Our Success Stories are proof that Thoroughbred racehorses make great sport horses and family members when their racing careers are over.

When a horse is purchased with the assistance of Bits & Bytes Farm, we require the new owners to stay in touch and provide us with updates. These updates are posted on our Success Stories pages so that the sellers of the horses know that their horses are doing well and have not gone back to racing or been slaughtered. The sellers care about these wonderful Thoroughbreds and they too enjoy reading about their horses' successful new careers. They often call or e-mail to thank us for finding a home for a horse they bred or trained. To learn more about Bits & Bytes Farm and our mission please visit our Web site at: www.BitsandBytesFarm.com.

Barnwoodbo aka Bo has a “Purr-fect” First Ride

Thought I would let you know how we made out with Bo. I ran up on Friday morning to get him from the training center without my daughter because the window of opportunity was small. Now I have bought horses from pictures before but this is the first time the horse has looked better than…

A+ on First Ride for OTTB Leader Board aka “LeeBo”

Here is a picture we took the day he arrived at the farm. “LeeBo” started training today and he did Great! Victor, the trainer, gave him an A+ today! He was so quiet and didn’t seem to care about much. We took him to the ring with the jumps and he barely even looked at…

TK’s Turn Speaks English

This is actually a TK (TK’s Turn) story, and it doesn’t involve Butch, although he did ask the other day how many horses we have. I just said “I don’t know”, and he left it alone. Too easy. Anyway, I just thought this was really funny: I was riding TK behind our house yesterday (walking),…

Judging Dreams Judged Sound by Vet

The vet check went (for Judging Dreams) great BUT they had x-rays done.  So the vet here developed them and overnighted them to the buyer’s vet in Connecticut.  Don’t know the outcome, BUT I wanted to buy Irish Morning Mist no matter what the outcome.  SO he will be shipping here on Saturday!  Can’t wait…

Hi Elizabeth, What a fantastic show, and what an idea.  Ann Rusuck is an owner/breeder/trainer of TB racehorses who a few years ago got involved in rescue–much of her work done with Anna Ford of New Vocations.  She has put together a show that is a showcase for these horses, as well as the most…

Brother Ron Settles In at Home

Brother Ron settled in so well at his new home.  He is a nice paddock by himself for now so that he can have all the hay he wants, but also has his friends right on the other side of the fence.  He let the other horses push him around, being the sweet boy he…

Dr. Sidney

Two More Shoes

I just wanted to send another update on Dr. Sidney. He has back shoes on now and is figuring out bending and leg yielding without a problem. I still love his natural balance at the canter and with his hind shoes he has really started to step out and push from behind at the trot and is even starting to figure out that stretching at the feels good.
