If Wishes Were Horses, Then Beggars Would Ride
I sure wish I had had a clue just how good thoroughbreds are to work with years ago…..I do soooo enjoy it—they really are a horse all thier own just as much as any Arab… One of these days I may get lucky with lotto or something in which case I would need to to find me one of my very own…lol. Thanks again for all of the pleasure and wholeness you introduced back into the family thru Sush—prayers and best hoping you find homes for all those other “Sush’s” you are working for right now….and ps—-how is my girl Great Game looking?—any chances for her to find someone yet?—I sure hope so…..

I have no intention of training anything but a fire breathing diva…..I just don’t think she realized it. She is truly magnificent…I have been waiting for the day when I could start to let her out again and have her understand the difference between race horse and riding horse…..to let her breathe just a bit of her fire again…..now we start….and to tell you the truth…..it has been a very very long time since I have been able to share a horse’s world with them like this. It is always such a priviledge and an honor to be graced with the affection of a horse…esp one of her caliber.

No training of a racehorse to a jumper/dressage horse/trail horse–western pleasure or whatever is possible until you gain a hold on the mind and heart and confidence of the animal you are working with because end of the day—like us, their minds control their muscles and how they are used just a surely as ours do. She wanted an owner…and person to bond and match up with—she and I do—and she was crankyyyyyyyyyy when I “dumped her” yesterday. Well, can’t say I am the happiest about the attitude…..but then again–not always that keen when my wife cranks one up either, but she’s been a keeper for 31 yrs. The one thing you have to appreciate is that the horse may have been soured on her racing because she didn’t get what she needed…but she is open and responsive to retraining when she does—she doesn’t hold grudges and hasn’t soured on work—she just wants someone to work for…..kind of a touching sentiment from a racehorse.
