First Ride Conclusion: Aly is da Bomb!!!

Feb 19, 2009

Ok, that title looks like not a very good description for a horse, especially one that behaved so fantastically on our first ride together, but he is an explosion of awesomeness for me. I’m still in that silent awe at how sweet Tucks St. Aly is, and how good he’s been to me. On the…

Carrots Please for the Mighty Kwinn

Sep 21, 2011

Dear Elizabeth, Hope this finds you well. We are all fine here, just very busy as usual, what with the boys’ activities, work, etc. Back in April, I broke a bone in my right foot. Wish I could say it was from something like kickboxing, but I literally twisted my foot falling off my shoes.…

Taken Chances Takes Third on First Test

Dec 15, 2008

Chance is doing great. I am just thrilled with him. He went to his first combined test this past weekend at Full Gallop Farm in Aiken, SC and was very good. He ended up third in the amoeba division. He is jumping bigger at home but I didn’t want to overwhelm him at his first…

Punch is NOT For Sale!

Nov 8, 2009

Hi Elizabeth! Great news! We’ve decided to take Chaz (Punch) off the market and keep him. We are thinking about selling one of our other horses instead. I’m very excited to be keeping him, he is such a sweetheart! We’ve been working on jumping small fences and flatwork lately. He is doing amazing but still…

Monarch’s Reign – One Month Update

Jan 18, 2010

Since Monarch’s former owners and his trainer are anxious to know how he’s doing, I thought I’d send a quick update on him (even though we talk about him almost every day!) I have to say that today was really amazing, both for me and for Monarch. We’ve been together just one month now, and…

Brett Gets a Close Shave

Oct 25, 2009

Brett’s only ‘hole’ has been head shyness–especially his ears. Joan and I have spent three years on this issue, slowly but consistently exposing him to more and more head/ear contact. I’ve ‘clicker trained’ him, and that’s how he learned to tolerate having his muzzle clipped–took me a good 3 months, but we got it done. The ears have been a much more challenging issue, as it took a full year until I could hold one, and it’s taken another year + to get to the point that I can grab an ear (gently) and he drops his head and turns it to me.

Outflankem – A Gentleman with an Easy Manner

Dec 2, 2008

The weather here has really put a damper on things. It seems every day we either have rain, snow, or gale force winds. The only days we get a break, I have to work! My daughter decided she did not like the name “Ronnie” and informed us she had changed Outflankem’s name to “Bailey”. I…
