Thoroughbreds can do

Back In the Saddle!

Apr 12, 2009

Hollywood Vic is very happy to have his Mom back on his back after a brief hiatus! Hollywood received a new bridle for Easter! He patiently modeled it for Mom to take photos! I think the modeling session almost put him to sleep!

Two More Shoes

May 11, 2012

I just wanted to send another update on Dr. Sidney. He has back shoes on now and is figuring out bending and leg yielding without a problem. I still love his natural balance at the canter and with his hind shoes he has really started to step out and push from behind at the trot and is even starting to figure out that stretching at the feels good.

OTTB Phil’s Courage Jumps for Joy with New Career

Oct 20, 2008

Phil has begun his career as a jumper. He has the natural talent with a big, scoopey jump and a great brain. He absolutely loves his job. Phil was bored with the hunters, so I tried him out in the jumpers and…

Coastside Enjoys a Few Days Rest after Traveling

Dec 16, 2008

Coastside aka “Coast”  arrived at his new home. He is currently relaxing in his stall and I figured I would let him take it easy for a few days. I do love him though he is a total sweetheart. He loves to have his face rubbed! Julia

Titania aka “Titanium” Sails Home to Her New Mom!

Nov 20, 2008

Titania arrived at her new home yesterday, November 19, around 3:30 PM. She unloaded and was totally calm and relaxed, despite the cold weather and the seven horses staring at her from their fields. She went into her stall and looked out the window and watched the other horses and they were led inside. She…

Trail Riding Off-the-Track Thoroughbred

Mar 16, 2009

We just got back in from the camping trip. We had a wonderful time! Maverick was absolutely the best! He got ridden six times! He munched on lots of new clover and loved all the attention, as always, since he was the BIG horse and would stick his head way out and stretch his neck way out from the stall. He’d nicker when he heard us stirring around the camp site.

Proceeding Slowly is a Positive Experience for Carmac

Oct 21, 2008

I still have not sat on Carmac yet. I am taking things slow and trying to do this correctly. I started lunging him in side reins this weekend so that he can get used to contact and he is doing great! I have him doing transitions and even some stretching on the lunge line. I…

Two Years Off-the-Track! Dr. Kenny Winn

Apr 9, 2009

In the two years since Dr. Kenny Winn aka “Kwinn” joined our family, he’s had numerous transitions – 3 barns, 3 trainers, and many new horse friends and routines to adjust to. But, the one thing that he has always been able to count on has been my presence in his life. I’ve learned just how important that is to these horses as I’ve helped him adjust to each new transition.

Confident Thoroughbred Checks out Giant Slide

May 2, 2008

Well, you and Barry never are ones to pass up a training opportunity. So on Friday when I was out and saw the inflatable slide going up at the school next door, I knew I was in for an interesting day. Loverboy watched casually as…
