Rocky Bear & Elizabeth

Rocky Bear and Bits & Bytes Farm owner - Elizabeth

This Web site was created to tell the stories of the Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds Bits & Bytes Farm has sold. The Mission of Bits & Bytes Farm is to help sellers (of Thoroughbred racehorses for sale) to find buyers who have the ability to transition these horses to new careers. We offer assistance and guidance to make sure the horses we sell are successfully placed. Our Success Stories are proof that Thoroughbred racehorses make great sport horses and family members when their racing careers are over.

When a horse is purchased with the assistance of Bits & Bytes Farm, we require the new owners to stay in touch and provide us with updates. These updates are posted on our Success Stories pages so that the sellers of the horses know that their horses are doing well and have not gone back to racing or been slaughtered. The sellers care about these wonderful Thoroughbreds and they too enjoy reading about their horses' successful new careers. They often call or e-mail to thank us for finding a home for a horse they bred or trained. To learn more about Bits & Bytes Farm and our mission please visit our Web site at: www.BitsandBytesFarm.com.

A June Affair Finds a Home in Tennessee

I must admit that I felt like a kid on Christmas morning as I waited for you to pull down the driveway with my new horse, A June Affair. It doesn’t seem to matter what age I get to be because I never loose the joy and love a beautiful horse gives to me. Especially….the Thoroughbred. The incredible, wonderful, big hearted OTTB!

Quite an Event – Blue Ribbon for Joe Bear!

Poplar Place CT schooling show. We arrived and I put Joe in the stall and went to get his hay and buckets. When I got back he was calling out and sweating like I had deserted him for hours. My first thought was, “This is going to be a very bad day…” I took him…

Grab that “Chance” when You Find It!

Jim is absolutely in love. He just adores riding Chance. Chance seems to enjoy being ridden by Jim, too. They make a lovely soft picture together. I videoed them today, and while watching the video, Jim said, “How did I ever end up with such a nice horse?”

Sorry for the Slow Updates

I have just posted a whole bunch of long overdue updates. I never thought that I would receive so many wonderful stories about the horses we placed. I hope to do better in the future if possible. I am not only the Web master for the OTTB Success Stories and the Bits & Bytes Farm…

“Wolfie” Reached New Heights Today

Wolfie reached new heights today …. we did a 2’6″ to 2’11” course in prep for the Low Hunter classes next week (2’3″ – 2’6″). I always like to be doing a little more at home than needed at a show….

“Sage” is (at) Home on the Range

Home…Home on the range (in Texas)…..Sage is now finally here with me and he has a new best friend Tiger. Both of them are 4 year-old OTTBs and they are both beautiful fiery red chestnuts. You would think they are long lost brothers, because they are inseparable. They don’t leave each others side….even though they are turned out with three other horses. If you take one of them away from the other they whinny at each other it’s hilarious.

Allegiant Videos from July

I really REALLY like Allegiant, and can definitely see her potential. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. There is no way I would sell her! She hasn’t done ONE bad thing. Mom and Dad can hold her, and they aren’t even horse people. And, I love how she talks to me when she sees me! I know we will go far! Thanks for all your help!

Cortableau Gets a Mom!

Cortableau spent a few days of well earned R&R at the Bits & Bytes Farm “Spa” where he received laser treatments, stretching exercises and lunging. He learned to eat grass and run free again! And he chilled with the other ex-racers on the farm who, we’re sure, told him that his racing days were over. Stevie Loverboy chatted with “Bleau” over the fence, “There’s no track here. These people are nice.” By the time his new mom Laura arrived on Friday he was feeling good and ready to meet his new family.
