Rocky Bear & Elizabeth

Rocky Bear and Bits & Bytes Farm owner - Elizabeth

This Web site was created to tell the stories of the Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds Bits & Bytes Farm has sold. The Mission of Bits & Bytes Farm is to help sellers (of Thoroughbred racehorses for sale) to find buyers who have the ability to transition these horses to new careers. We offer assistance and guidance to make sure the horses we sell are successfully placed. Our Success Stories are proof that Thoroughbred racehorses make great sport horses and family members when their racing careers are over.

When a horse is purchased with the assistance of Bits & Bytes Farm, we require the new owners to stay in touch and provide us with updates. These updates are posted on our Success Stories pages so that the sellers of the horses know that their horses are doing well and have not gone back to racing or been slaughtered. The sellers care about these wonderful Thoroughbreds and they too enjoy reading about their horses' successful new careers. They often call or e-mail to thank us for finding a home for a horse they bred or trained. To learn more about Bits & Bytes Farm and our mission please visit our Web site at: www.BitsandBytesFarm.com.

“Sage” is (at) Home on the Range

Home…Home on the range (in Texas)…..Sage is now finally here with me and he has a new best friend Tiger. Both of them are 4 year-old OTTBs and they are both beautiful fiery red chestnuts. You would think they are long lost brothers, because they are inseparable. They don’t leave each others side….even though they are turned out with three other horses. If you take one of them away from the other they whinny at each other it’s hilarious.

Taken Chances – Confident at his New Home

I wanted to let you know Chances is doing great. I just love him. He has put on weight and is building his top line. We’ve started some jumping and he loves it. He trots right over everything the first time, even scary flowers and panels. He is even cantering down hills outside. He has…

Ironman’s “Present” Part One

Friday-Rock sand (three tons) is brought in and placed directly over the clay floors (floors stripped prior of course). Of course, that day we did not have the Kubota so yours truly shoveled rock sand from a pile outside the stall into the stall (Ben had to make two trips to get the rock sand).…

Votive Arrives at Her New Home in Vermont

I have to say Votive is the best horse ever. She unloaded and looked around as we walked for about an hour. Very calm but inquisitive on the surroundings. She has been really well behaved in the stall and walking. I have turned her out twice already in a round pen and she thought that…

Sec Cat – “Cat Napping with the Chickens”

Sec Cat aka “Lexington” aka “Lex” has started to settle in to his new home. He has a very sweet nature. He can bend and flex (even to the right). As long as his brain is busy working, he doesn’t spook at all the new things around. Today was a true challenge. I turned the…
