Rocky Bear & Elizabeth

Rocky Bear and Bits & Bytes Farm owner - Elizabeth

This Web site was created to tell the stories of the Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds Bits & Bytes Farm has sold. The Mission of Bits & Bytes Farm is to help sellers (of Thoroughbred racehorses for sale) to find buyers who have the ability to transition these horses to new careers. We offer assistance and guidance to make sure the horses we sell are successfully placed. Our Success Stories are proof that Thoroughbred racehorses make great sport horses and family members when their racing careers are over.

When a horse is purchased with the assistance of Bits & Bytes Farm, we require the new owners to stay in touch and provide us with updates. These updates are posted on our Success Stories pages so that the sellers of the horses know that their horses are doing well and have not gone back to racing or been slaughtered. The sellers care about these wonderful Thoroughbreds and they too enjoy reading about their horses' successful new careers. They often call or e-mail to thank us for finding a home for a horse they bred or trained. To learn more about Bits & Bytes Farm and our mission please visit our Web site at: www.BitsandBytesFarm.com.

Ikon Is Great!

Ikon is doing great. We had some cousins come visit us and they each got “pony” rides on our boys. Ikon was the overwhelming favorite. They thought he was so sweet and gentle. I felt like a proud mama!! Hope all is well with the horses/dogs at Bits and Bytes!!

Hollywood Vic and Cheri’s First Canter is Thrilling!

Sunday has gone down as one of the best days of my life! This was the first day I cantered on my beautiful OTTB, Hollywood Vic! Last week I wrote that I have been working on balance. The work has finally paid off with Hollywood and Elizabeth’s’ patience, we cantered today for the very first…

Austin’s Wolf is “Reserved” at Seven

Hi Elizabeth and Barry, We did our usual Hunters on Saturday and Equitation on Sunday, doing well in light of the fact that riding has been hit or miss for a couple of weeks due to work and weather.  Despite only getting in one ride this week leading up to the show, Wolfie was a…

Dr. Sidney

Two More Shoes

I just wanted to send another update on Dr. Sidney. He has back shoes on now and is figuring out bending and leg yielding without a problem. I still love his natural balance at the canter and with his hind shoes he has really started to step out and push from behind at the trot and is even starting to figure out that stretching at the feels good.

Imatexan fox hunting in Georgia

Hunting in Reverse

Wow. . . What a day. I had my doubts when we went out but by the end of the first run I knew Imatexan was going to be great! In hindsight, I probably should have picked a better fixture.

Tax Hike - Thoroughbred sold by Bits & Bytes Farm

Take a “Taxi” to School

Tax Hike was awesome at the show. It was her first time in this environment and she was very well behaved. Cait’s been taking lessons at our place or across the street once a week but opted to go to the show without any coaching. She has so much confidence in this horse. Anyway, they were an awesome pair, did fabulous and had a ball. They got a first and a third.

Well Worth the Wait – First Ride!

The first real ride went very well.  He walked and trotted without a care in the world.  I will be taking Behren to meet my trainer for the first time on the 21st.

OTTB Imatexan wins five blue ribbons!

Imatexan A Year In (Photo) Review

Imatexan began the year as an unraced four year old Thoroughbred in race training. In ten months she has gone trail riding, camping, to dressage clinics, had jumping lessons and she has gone to two combined training schooling shows where she entered five classes – three dressage and two jumping classes and she won FIVE BLUE RIBBONS!
