Rocky Bear & Elizabeth

Rocky Bear and Bits & Bytes Farm owner - Elizabeth

This Web site was created to tell the stories of the Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds Bits & Bytes Farm has sold. The Mission of Bits & Bytes Farm is to help sellers (of Thoroughbred racehorses for sale) to find buyers who have the ability to transition these horses to new careers. We offer assistance and guidance to make sure the horses we sell are successfully placed. Our Success Stories are proof that Thoroughbred racehorses make great sport horses and family members when their racing careers are over.

When a horse is purchased with the assistance of Bits & Bytes Farm, we require the new owners to stay in touch and provide us with updates. These updates are posted on our Success Stories pages so that the sellers of the horses know that their horses are doing well and have not gone back to racing or been slaughtered. The sellers care about these wonderful Thoroughbreds and they too enjoy reading about their horses' successful new careers. They often call or e-mail to thank us for finding a home for a horse they bred or trained. To learn more about Bits & Bytes Farm and our mission please visit our Web site at: www.BitsandBytesFarm.com.

Grayboo and Amanda Cross Country with the Big Guys

I’m just SO excited about Grayboo that I have to share it. Amanda and Grayboo competed this weekend at River Glen. They were in the Training Rider Division – there was no junior division so they competed against juniors and adults (a class size of 22). They had a very good dressage test and scored…

New Focus on Jumping Brings out the Best in Irish

Irish is doing wonderfully! His trot has come a long way and is incredible – forward and flowing. We are now working on his canter. Trying to convince him to use that BIG hind end of his! He’s getting it! I decided to jump him for the first time to see if I could find…

Cadence Blows Town Before Hurricane Ike

We survived Hurricane Ike. Whew. I was able to get Cadence out of town and farther north before Ike hit. He has been enjoying being out in a pasture with several other horses. They’re grazing, relaxing, and enjoying the vacation – while we’ve been without power and water for a while. I was very fortunate and had my water restored on Sunday and power came back last night. Thankfully, I’ve heard from the barn and no one was injured and the horses that stayed are doing okay. Everyone is still without power, but all in good health.

Callie’s Wright – First Ride!

“Rappin” on the Trails with an OTTB

Rap It Up went out for his first trail ride on Monday and he did great. We have several trails that include hills, creek crossings, ditches, logs, etc. and he passed his first test with flying colors. I took him out by himself (therefore no pictures, sorry) and he took everything in stride.

Tax Hike - Thoroughbred sold by Bits & Bytes Farm

Take a “Taxi” to School

Tax Hike was awesome at the show. It was her first time in this environment and she was very well behaved. Cait’s been taking lessons at our place or across the street once a week but opted to go to the show without any coaching. She has so much confidence in this horse. Anyway, they were an awesome pair, did fabulous and had a ball. They got a first and a third.
