When a horse is purchased with the assistance of Bits & Bytes Farm, we require the new owners to stay in touch and provide us with updates. These updates are posted on our Success Stories pages so that the sellers of the horses know that their horses are doing well and have not gone back to racing or been slaughtered. The sellers care about these wonderful Thoroughbreds and they too enjoy reading about their horses' successful new careers. They often call or e-mail to thank us for finding a home for a horse they bred or trained. OTTB Behren’s Design moves to California
He is doing great. It has been raining here since Friday. It is horrible. I hope to have a dry week so I can get him out. Yesterday his hind right leg blew up. I am hoping that is just lack of getting to move around. He seems to be sound on the leg.
Brett Gets a Close Shave
Brett’s only ‘hole’ has been head shyness–especially his ears. Joan and I have spent three years on this issue, slowly but consistently exposing him to more and more head/ear contact. I’ve ‘clicker trained’ him, and that’s how he learned to tolerate having his muzzle clipped–took me a good 3 months, but we got it done. The ears have been a much more challenging issue, as it took a full year until I could hold one, and it’s taken another year + to get to the point that I can grab an ear (gently) and he drops his head and turns it to me.
Popular Five Has a New Mom!
Every young girl/woman wants to get a horse for Christmas and this one did! Popular Five has a new mom! Congratulations to Adrienne Symanowski on the purchase of “Bo”. Popular Five and Adrienne will be boarding for a while at Bits & Bytes Farm until she can enlarge her barn to hold a second horse.

Avrispecial – Tight Turns are Tough
Avrispecial is doing very well. I worked him in the round pen on Friday. He was full of energy! He willingly went both directions, the only bad thing he did was kick out at me when he was asked to stay on the rail. I did not make to big of a deal about it…
