Vilas County understood directly what the game was about and as more we jumped as more he wanted to do. At the end he was really paying attention to see where the next jump is. I had great control over him and he never wanted to rush before or after the jumps. We jumped most jumps out of trot as this gives him more confidence right now.

Jim is absolutely in love. He just adores riding Chance. Chance seems to enjoy being ridden by Jim, too. They make a lovely soft picture together. I videoed them today, and while watching the video, Jim said, “How did I ever end up with such a nice horse?”

I hope that you had great Christmas and New Year’s celebrations! I have been slow to send updates since our December show because Cadence has been in and out of minor injuries. He has a way of getting more mystery injuries – no matter how many times we “Cadence-proof” his stall and the pastures, he finds a way. I should’ve known that he would be one of those mischievous ones from his former knee injury!

I love Bata Loco! He is such a character. He LOVES jumps. He’ll cross creeks, but he’ll jump them too if I let him. He gets so fired up! We plan to go to the beach soon. That will be an adventure. I also will be taking some dressage lessons with him to see just what he can do in the arena… He is such a treat!
