Joe Bear’s Smooth Moves Win Two Blues

Nov 17, 2008

The show last weekend was fantastic. Joe was an absolute star. He acted like an old veteran the whole day. It was a dressage show at that newish facility ten minutes up the road. My ride times were quite spread apart, giving us a lot of time to just hang out. He was not nervous…

Anamericansoldier Has Much to Be Thankful For

Nov 24, 2009

“Soldier” is doing well and the rain rot is clearing slowly but surely. I think we will begin to work with him the first or second week of Dec. He is totally the favorite in my barn already!

Whozierhurry – The Mexican Jumping Horse!

Dec 8, 2008

I am so sorry I didnt meet up with you in Boston. As it turned out I did not go to Equine Affaire for work reasons….I was finishing up my final weeks with my current company and was finalizing the details of my new role with Schleese Saddlery! I am not sure if you have…

Rightfully Bragging on Bato Loco

Apr 22, 2009

I love Bata Loco! He is such a character. He LOVES jumps. He’ll cross creeks, but he’ll jump them too if I let him. He gets so fired up! We plan to go to the beach soon. That will be an adventure. I also will be taking some dressage lessons with him to see just what he can do in the arena… He is such a treat!

Lover’s Quarrel Will Escape the Cold in Florida

Jan 16, 2009

Hope the new year finds you happy, healthy and well (and warmer than we are here in TN!) Today the high is 20 degrees – too cold for even my backside to get out there and ride. We leave for FL with the horses on Feb 1 for 2 weeks in Ocala – CAN’T WAIT!!!…

Goldie’s Big Adventure…

Feb 19, 2012

We traveled down the road a short way to Spring Mill Farm this weekend for a dressage clinic. . . . Goldie worked very hard to respond to my seat giving the cues, rather than my hands, and got quite adept at “reading” my (mental) whoa transition.

Grayboo Moves Up to Prelim

Jun 17, 2010

I have an exciting update on Grayboo and Amanda. They had a dressage score of 39 – not bad for their first attempt at this level and then proceeded to jump a clean stadium round. The course was not ideal for Grayboo – it was very spread out and gave Grayboo a chance to build speed from jump to jump, but Amanda managed to get him around OK (that and he absolutely can’t stand to touch a jump). Grayboo was an absolute super star on cross country – he jumped clean and Amanda finished 7 seconds over the optimum time, so added 2.8 penalties to their dressage score. I was surprised that Amanda was able to finish close to time her first time out. They finished 10th in a large Open Prelim division of 24.

Hounds Under Foot . . . No Problem for This OTTB

Dec 29, 2009

I took Rap foxhunting for his first time and my wife got to experience mounted foxhunting for her first time, and they both did great! We started out in the back and as the day wore on moved closer to the front, Rap was completely unphased by all the activity going on, including hounds running literally under his feet.
