He is extremely conscious of the horse hierarchy and just likes to stay out of trouble. I would say he’s probably a bit more comfortable around people than other horses with one…

After a few seconds, I hear the thunder of hooves behind me, I turn and there is my Hollywood galloping up towards me in the pasture behind me. I said, “THERE YOU ARE!” He looked at me, spun around and ran back up to the door of the barn (that leads to the pasture he was in ) and waited for me! Now how smart is that? He saw me walk by and came to tell me to come and get him! That just made my day, no my week, no my month!

“Cadence” aka Cold Cash – we qualified for the Southwest Dressage Championships last year (Oct 2008) and we placed 6th with 66.4% in Training Level. In addition, we placed in all classes we entered (First Level Test 1 (2nd pl 63%) and 4 (6th pl 58%) and First Level 4 (4th pl 63%)). We ended the year with two 66%s First Level 4 at a schooling show in which I was so proud of” Cadence” because it was the first time he really relaxed and gained confidence in the arena.

“Woody” is absolutely wonderful. We couldn’t love him more. He is very very handsome and he went to his first ‘AA’ show several weeks ago and did wonderfully. He placed 5th in one of his over fences in the Baby Greens and couldn’t have looked better or been more confident.

To have a horse in your life is a gift. In the matter of a few short years, a horse can teach a young girl courage, if she chooses to grab mane and hang on for dear life. Even the smallest of ponies is mightier than the tallest of girls. To conquer the fear of falling off, having one’s toes crushed, or being publicly humiliated at a horse show is an admirable feat for any child. For that, we can be grateful.
