Thoroughbreds can do

Irish is Still a Goof

Sep 20, 2011

Hey E! Just wanted to let you know Irish is doing great! We’ve moved to a barn that’s better for our needs and he is thriving! He is competing in a little dressage show this weekend and am excited to see how he does. Were taking it nice and slow and he is full of…

First Lesson on Antioch

Apr 1, 2010

Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds are easy to train but it sometimes helps to have someone coaching and encouraging you. Too often all you get is criticism because of peoples’ lack of knowledge about ex-race horses.

It’s All About the Love for Better Be There

Jun 16, 2008

Just thought I would give you a short update on “Buddy”. He is getting better and better everyday.

Tillo – Race Horse to Trail Horse

Oct 23, 2012

Tillo is turning out to be an “old soul trail horse”…10,000 feet, he leads 4 other horses across a frozen stream…through chest high willows in a bog! I can’t believe it. He’s not so great in the ring yet but we’re having such a great fall I don’t want to go there yet.

Elizabeth’s Note: Check out the new Web site we have just created for Flying Horse Ranch. It is a great place to have an equestrian event or even a wedding or family reunion. Bring your horses and go trail riding and camp out. Check out the Flying Horse Ranch Web site and give Lydia a call to plan your visit to the ranch.

Voted Off: Off-the-Track in 2006 Update 2011

Nov 29, 2011

It’s been years since I sent you an update, but I thought you might like to know how Voted Off is doing. His primary job has been as my husband’s trail horse for the last 5 years. About six months ago, my 6 year old daughter started riding him too. You might remember a picture of her you posted on your web site on her rocking horse when she was 2. Well, she has swapped out the rocking horse for Voted Off.

Wintertime for Jesse is Sometimes Muddy and Messy

Dec 19, 2008

“Jesse” aka Waterloo Slew, is doing fine. I moved him to a new place that’s on my way to and from work and is only 20 minutes from the house. It’s been raining here all week. Our indoor ring is small but the outdoor arena won’t dry out for a while. I just hope I…

Rap It Up’s First Ride

Sep 5, 2009

I rode Rap It Up for the first time today and he did great!!!!!!! He was actually pretty lazy! Not at all what I expected from him! He was pretty rowdy on Monday, but the more time he spent NOT confined to a stall, the better he was. He is adjusting to his new home very well.

Gold Charm

Sep 13, 2011

Gold Commander One is the barn charmer. Everyone, despite themselves, loves this big guy. Frankly, he puts the warmbloods to shame with his good mind and pleasant manners. He enjoys his work, the attention, and being out in the ring with other horses. He also likes to watch other lessons, just like Becky said he watched other horses at the track exercise in the morning.

Dixon’s Chief Transitions to his New Life

Aug 29, 2008

Since I sent you an update on Avrispecial I had to send you one on Dixons Chief. When Chief got here I had a lot of trouble getting him to eat but I am pretty sure it was because he had a stomach ulcer. I have had him on U-7. Becky recommended it to me…
