Rocky Bear and Bits & Bytes Farm owner - Elizabeth
This Web site was created to tell the stories of the Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds Bits & Bytes Farm has sold. The Mission of Bits & Bytes Farm is to help sellers (of Thoroughbred racehorses for sale) to find buyers who have the ability to transition these horses to new careers. We offer assistance and guidance to make sure the horses we sell are successfully placed. Our Success Stories are proof that Thoroughbred racehorses make great sport horses and family members when their racing careers are over.
When a horse is purchased with the assistance of Bits & Bytes Farm, we require the new owners to stay in touch and provide us with updates. These updates are posted on our Success Stories pages so that the sellers of the horses know that their horses are doing well and have not gone back to racing or been slaughtered. The sellers care about these wonderful Thoroughbreds and they too enjoy reading about their horses' successful new careers. They often call or e-mail to thank us for finding a home for a horse they bred or trained. To learn more about Bits & Bytes Farm and our mission please visit our Web site at: www.BitsandBytesFarm.com.

Gold Charm
Gold Commander One is the barn charmer. Everyone, despite themselves, loves this big guy. Frankly, he puts the warmbloods to shame with his good mind and pleasant manners. He enjoys his work, the attention, and being out in the ring with other horses. He also likes to watch other lessons, just like Becky said he watched other horses at the track exercise in the morning.
The Re-education of Fast Commander
I wanted to give you a quick update on Commander. I have been back from our trip to China for about three weeks and trying to ride fairly regularly as work allows. Commander has recovered from being gelded & from a laceration on his left buttock (a failed attempt to meet the mare next door…
Vilas County Exhibits the “Fun” but “Not So Funny” Side of a Clever Thoroughbred
… last week I came home after work, driving down the drive way and who was coming cantering towards me…Vilas…we have a xc-jump included in our pasture fence line and all the time we haven’t had any problems, but just till last week. So he decided that the grass was definitely greener on the other side and just jumped over it.
Thanksgiving Greetings from Carmac
Carmac aka “Mac” is still doing great. He had a small puncture wound under his jaw that abscessed so has been on antibiotics for the past week and it is healing nicely now, yuck! Other than that he is wonderful! 🙂 Morgan
17 hand Thoroughbred Horse For Sale – Admiration
Admiration aka “Huey” is a 10 year-old TB gelding who has been off the track for over two years. He is chestnut with four high whites and a blaze and stands 17 hands! Huey is built like a warmblood – wide barrel, very solid bone. He is sadly offered for sale by his owner Whitney Evans.
Fame for a Day just isn’t enough – but Six Years…Now We’re Talkin’
Can you believe that Fame For a Day turned nine years old on April 8th? Where does the time go? I feel like I just purchased him from you. What an amazing boy! What an amazing journey! He’s like a fine wine as he just gets better with age!
Bank President
The vet was shocked I bought Bank President sight unseen and then amazed at his easy going temperament. He is so very quiet now after some down time. My farrier also commented on what a nice TB he was. He is on his way now to getting healthy and starting a new career next year.
Titania Doing Well With New Mom
An update on Titania: I know when we last spoke, she was just starting out with Julie, her new owner, but was having some soundness issues. Since then, they have put her into some pads and new shoes, and she has been in training since. Even though Ana has not been ridden much due to our crazy winter here in Northern VA, I have been told that she has come a long way! Last time I visited the farm (back in December) she was fat and happy living with my other old horse that is at this farm.
Taking “Commander” in Every Direction
Fast Commander is doing well. I think he looks great, having put on a lot of needed weight and starting to develop some muscles with regular work under saddle. He is so big already, it’s hard to imagine he’s only three and has more growing to do. He has progressed nicely in his flat work.…
