Rocky Bear & Elizabeth

Rocky Bear and Bits & Bytes Farm owner - Elizabeth

This Web site was created to tell the stories of the Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds Bits & Bytes Farm has sold. The Mission of Bits & Bytes Farm is to help sellers (of Thoroughbred racehorses for sale) to find buyers who have the ability to transition these horses to new careers. We offer assistance and guidance to make sure the horses we sell are successfully placed. Our Success Stories are proof that Thoroughbred racehorses make great sport horses and family members when their racing careers are over.

When a horse is purchased with the assistance of Bits & Bytes Farm, we require the new owners to stay in touch and provide us with updates. These updates are posted on our Success Stories pages so that the sellers of the horses know that their horses are doing well and have not gone back to racing or been slaughtered. The sellers care about these wonderful Thoroughbreds and they too enjoy reading about their horses' successful new careers. They often call or e-mail to thank us for finding a home for a horse they bred or trained. To learn more about Bits & Bytes Farm and our mission please visit our Web site at: www.BitsandBytesFarm.com.

S.R. King of Queens . . . and Tears

Hi Elizabeth, Oh my gosh, I am in tears looking at the before and after pictures of that sweet boy. This is so, so upsetting to me. As luck would have it, Noah came down to my room because he’d had a bad dream and saw me crying. I didn’t click off the picture soon…

Coastside Loves Being Outside!

I moved Coast to a new farm. He needed three-board fencing in the pasture and I decided to move him to a new farm. His stall is 20×24 (big) with lots of fresh shavings! He gets daily turn out with another OTTB. He started training this month. My trainer says he will be able to…

New Haunt Maybe a Little Scarey for “Ghosts”

Just a short note to let you know that Familiar Ghost (“Casper”) is settling in well and learning to live with golf carts, various and sundry dogs, geese and horses all over the place. He is living at a boarding barn, which is also open to the public, so there is always a lot of activity. Started him the…

Everyday Offers a New Lesson for Avrispecial

Avri is putting weight on and looking good. He is doing well under saddle. We are still trail riding in the pasture and learning new things every day. He accepts my leg very well.

Great Game and Chuck Dixon

Round and Round She Goes

I used some warm water to get the worst of the newly acquired mud cakes off of her since this morning and she was fine with that and all—-except….the Show Sheen……now I see her tucking her hindquarters under and elevating her forehand and balance and energy—-when doing a circle….a very small circle….about an arms length actually —around me—while I held the halter with one hand—and sprayed while she ran around me in the other hand…..Patrick was dying laughing and took great pleasure in telling me “Dad—you know she really can step under and cross over pretty well now”

Cortableau Gets a Mom!

Cortableau spent a few days of well earned R&R at the Bits & Bytes Farm “Spa” where he received laser treatments, stretching exercises and lunging. He learned to eat grass and run free again! And he chilled with the other ex-racers on the farm who, we’re sure, told him that his racing days were over. Stevie Loverboy chatted with “Bleau” over the fence, “There’s no track here. These people are nice.” By the time his new mom Laura arrived on Friday he was feeling good and ready to meet his new family.

Desensitizing Techniques for the 21st Century: Laptops & Kitty Cats

Also, for the record, as seems very fitting to me, since he is from Bits & Bytes Farm, Aly has been properly desensitized to laptops! The other night I took mine out there to work on homework a bit, and although I didn’t get much work done, I did get some done with Aly! When I sat down beside his stall and opened the laptop, boy did his nostrils flare!

Callie's Wright - December 29, 2011

Callie’s Wright at Home

Callie’s Wright arrived safe this afternoon! I called Michelle to let her know that she arrived in perfect shape and that I really like her, she seemed very pleased! She told me to keep her updated and to call her if I came across any questions as I started working with her! The company that transported her (Tapp) was wonderful! They were very nice and professional to work with and were reasonable with their rate!
