Rocky Bear & Elizabeth

Rocky Bear and Bits & Bytes Farm owner - Elizabeth

This Web site was created to tell the stories of the Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds Bits & Bytes Farm has sold. The Mission of Bits & Bytes Farm is to help sellers (of Thoroughbred racehorses for sale) to find buyers who have the ability to transition these horses to new careers. We offer assistance and guidance to make sure the horses we sell are successfully placed. Our Success Stories are proof that Thoroughbred racehorses make great sport horses and family members when their racing careers are over.

When a horse is purchased with the assistance of Bits & Bytes Farm, we require the new owners to stay in touch and provide us with updates. These updates are posted on our Success Stories pages so that the sellers of the horses know that their horses are doing well and have not gone back to racing or been slaughtered. The sellers care about these wonderful Thoroughbreds and they too enjoy reading about their horses' successful new careers. They often call or e-mail to thank us for finding a home for a horse they bred or trained. To learn more about Bits & Bytes Farm and our mission please visit our Web site at: www.BitsandBytesFarm.com.

Race Horse to Sport Horse Takes Time and Patience

She has been affectionate right from the beginning–which made it so discouraging when she was such a touchy bold forward racehorse for so long with just the presentation of a saddle and bridle—but the last couple of weeks—she is being that big goofy teddy bear puppy dog everywhere now instead of just the times when tack was not involved. She still can get uncertain…and when she does she tries to boldly bluff her way thru like she knows everything there is to know about what she is doing—but is pretty rare of late.

Tax Hike - Thoroughbred sold by Bits & Bytes Farm

Checking In

I’m attaching a few pictures of Cait and Taxi that I took yesterday. Both are doing great. When we decided to buy a horse sight unseen and from across the country we had no idea it would turn out so perfect. I can’t thank you enough for making this happen.

Bubba – Bendy like Beckham!

Lots of things bend: a curvy road, a paperclip, Gumby – but not so much my Bubba! Until today… I ride Bubba three or four times a week but I don’t ride well or softly and he is often aggravated with me. He grits his jaw tightly and its nose up or nose tucked between…

Joe Bear Dapples Out

Hey Guys, Just wanted to send some new pics of Joe Bear  from the weekend. I want to get some more of him dry so his dapples show more. They are all down his sides and over his hind quarters! A real dappled bay.

Absolute Charm - OTTB

Third Time’s A. Charm

We have had a lot of people wondering just who got our special girl – Absolute Charm.

Let me give a little background to her story first.

Absolute Charm’s new family has had a rough few years. The mother was diagnosed with a terminal neurological disease with no cure. Her husband is a critical care nurse and he searched for every possible solution or possible cause for her condition. The mother grew weaker and weaker until she needed two canes just to walk and she spent most of her time in bed.

In trying to relieve some of the family’s stress, the then 13 year old son took up riding dressage at a local stable. . .
