When a horse is purchased with the assistance of Bits & Bytes Farm, we require the new owners to stay in touch and provide us with updates. These updates are posted on our Success Stories pages so that the sellers of the horses know that their horses are doing well and have not gone back to racing or been slaughtered. The sellers care about these wonderful Thoroughbreds and they too enjoy reading about their horses' successful new careers. They often call or e-mail to thank us for finding a home for a horse they bred or trained. Dreams Do Come True
Having a horse and riding again after many years is a dream come true. I was so lucky to have a wonderful horse growing up, I rode just about every day from middle school through high school. I even was able to take my horse to college with me. When I went to veterinary school, I gave up riding and started showing dogs.
Coin Maker Makes Friends at New Home
Hi Elizabeth, I just wanted to let you know that Coin Maker is doing great. We had him by himself for a couple of days, then in a pasture with our “baby” horses (2 3-year-olds and 1 2-year-old). Yesterday, we let him out with everyone and, other than the usual antics, everyone is getting along…
Becoming the Herd Leader
Taxi learns who is in charge. When horses first arrive, you tend to want to love on them and let them get away with things. In reality this is the most important time of all. You need to establish the “herd order”. You need to let the new horse know you are in charge and that the horse is not the leader – you are!

Goldie’s Big Adventure…
We traveled down the road a short way to Spring Mill Farm this weekend for a dressage clinic. . . . Goldie worked very hard to respond to my seat giving the cues, rather than my hands, and got quite adept at “reading” my (mental) whoa transition.
Fuhrluck aka “Seven” Still Lucky in 2010!
It’s been a long time. I just wanted to share a couple of photos of Fuhrluck aka “Seven” with you. As you can see he’s looking great! I still regularly keep in contact with his new owner, Dayna and I see him whenever I’m back in Ohio. I can’t imagine a happier, more loved horse.
