The Mission of Bits & Bytes Farm is to help sellers (of Thoroughbred racehorses for sale) to find buyers who have the ability to transition these horses to new careers. We offer assistance and guidance to make sure the horses we sell are successfully placed. Our Success Stories are proof that Thoroughbred racehorses make great sport horses and family members when their racing careers are over.
When a horse is purchased with the assistance of Bits & Bytes Farm, we require the new owners to stay in touch and provide us with updates. These updates are posted on our Success Stories pages so that the sellers of the horses know that their horses are doing well and have not gone back to racing or been slaughtered. The sellers care about these wonderful Thoroughbreds and they too enjoy reading about their horses' successful new careers. They often call or e-mail to thank us for finding a home for a horse they bred or trained. Da’ Boyz Do Gymnastics and Dressage
I’m again enjoying this lovely weather! Da’ Boyz (Dakota Spirit & Chilletecaux) are coming along great! This past week and this week they graduated to gymnastics (three jumps on the one stride) and cantering simple lines. They both LOVE IT!! The dressage is coming too. Of course we all think the jumping is more fun…
Update on Our “Kid”
Snowdance Kid was a horse for sale at Bits & Bytes Farm when he was purchased by Beth Hutchison in October of 2006. We are happy that after four years he is still enjoying cross-country jumping! We are proud of this pair! We look for lots more great Snowdance Kid Success Stories.
Win For Morgan Putting on the Weight
Fitch (Win For Morgan) is up to roughly 1100-1115lbs and gaining after moving to a new barn where he can finally receive what he needs. He’s still a darling to work with and ride . . .
Let It Snow in West Texas!
Maverick (Light Artillery) is doing great! Today it actually snowed in west texas and I took some picts of the flurries on his mane! He’s still a talker, whinnies for me any time the back sliding door opens or when I get home!

Stevie Loverboy continues to be an OTTB ambassador, always surpassing people’s expectations with his calm demeanor and affectionate disposition. I can’t tell you how many times I have had folks say to me “I can’t believe he’s a thoroughbred, he’s so calm.” People never hesitate to invite us on trail rides, as they know he is so even-keeled.
“Tru” Love Success Story
I am totally in love with my new baby – Tru Native. I don’t want to leave the barn and when I am at home, all I want to do is go back to be with “Tru”. Thank you sooooo much for your support and assistance. This happened so fast, but I knew when I saw his photo on your website that was it. I was in love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I Got In Trouble . . .
She wanted an owner…and person to bond and match up with—she and I do—and she was crankyyyyyyyyyy when I “dumped her” yesterday. Well, can’t say I am the happiest about the attitude…..but then again–not always that keen when my wife cranks one up either, but she’s been a keeper for 31 yrs. The one thing you have to appreciate is that the horse may have been soured on her racing because she didn’t get what she needed…but she is open and responsive to retraining when she does—she doesn’t hold grudges and hasn’t soured on work—she just wants someone to work for…..kind of a touching sentiment from a racehorse.
Brett is at his Best when the Light Bulb goes on
Brett is coming along on schedule, and without even a hiccup. We’ve been trotting courses up until the end of July, when we began trotting in and cantering out. It took him a few lessons to understand to come back/whoa down a line but don’t confuse that with getting strong. He would canter softly, loose…
