Goldie’s Big Adventure…
We traveled down the road a short way to Spring Mill Farm this weekend for a dressage clinic. . . . Goldie worked very hard to respond to my seat giving the cues, rather than my hands, and got quite adept at “reading” my (mental) whoa transition.

Vilas County understood directly what the game was about and as more we jumped as more he wanted to do. At the end he was really paying attention to see where the next jump is. I had great control over him and he never wanted to rush before or after the jumps. We jumped most jumps out of trot as this gives him more confidence right now.

Today (Sunday) we did basically the same set of classes – but both of us were tired. We placed 6th again in one OF class, 3rd in the US (again about 12 in there) and …. on a lark I went into the flat equitation class to give him more flat class experience since we need more seasoning there and we won! I will not tell you how long it has been since I did an equitation class….!

As soon as it was certain, that we were going to move from Munich in Germany to Huntsville, Alabama, I started searching for the “perfect” horse on the other side of the world…. and soon got hooked on 4 year old Rule My Heart. It took some time, but then Heart finally moved from Kentucky to Alabama, almost a week before we would actually be moving. we spent lots of time in our yard, which he always loves, eating down the dandelions and rye grass and…….getting a few carrots handed to him after he put his head through my mom’s office window and said good morning to her! Anyway, I just can’t believe how relaxed he is in our yard now, he really really loves grazing in it and when we get our front gates up in our drive way, I know he’ll really love being able to be loose in it.

In the two years since Dr. Kenny Winn aka “Kwinn” joined our family, he’s had numerous transitions – 3 barns, 3 trainers, and many new horse friends and routines to adjust to. But, the one thing that he has always been able to count on has been my presence in his life. I’ve learned just how important that is to these horses as I’ve helped him adjust to each new transition.
