Joe Bear Dapples Out

Aug 18, 2010

Hey Guys, Just wanted to send some new pics of Joe Bear  from the weekend. I want to get some more of him dry so his dapples show more. They are all down his sides and over his hind quarters! A real dappled bay.

OTTB Gold’s Anatomy Excels at Natural Horsemanship Clinic

May 6, 2009

This past weekend Laura’s Pony Club had a three day Karen Scholl natural horsemanship clinic and Laura took Goldie. The horses had to wear hula hoops and balloons, walk over tarps and have them pulled over the top of their heads. They eventually were riding around with a halter and lead rope with a huge moving pink balloon blowing around in the middle of the arena while Karen cracked a whip. Goldie was a star!!! No one could believe he is a five year old Thoroughbred off the track, he handled everything so well.

No Rapping These Fences!

Oct 1, 2009

Ol’ Rap (Rap It Up) is making steady progress. He is jumping better with each practice, he acts like he has had some previous schooling over jumps because he is already jumping so well. He gets a bit nervous at times but overall he has been very willing to do what I ask of him.

Admiration Not Lost on His Mom During Hiatus

Apr 2, 2008

Just wanted to send you a little update on Admiration aka “Huey”. It’s been about a year since I got him, and I have to say that we’re not where I would have liked us to be. That’s certainly not his fault, and I’m not sure that it’s really mine either… just circumstances. This summer…

Who’s Trainin’ Who?

Jan 26, 2009

I just wanted to tell you that Vilas County is doing great. His dressage training improved a lot over the last weeks, but we are still miles away from competing. I attached you a free jumping video that I took yesterday. He really shows some good potential for becoming a great jumper. That was only…

Dr. Kenny Winn – Two Years and Goin’ Strong

Feb 19, 2009

We’ve done a lot of natural horsemanship techniques with him, and it’s working VERY well. He’s making amazing strides. Of course it helps that he’s intelligent and catches on quickly. Once he knows what is expected, he relaxes. And, he doesn’t like mindless work. He will lose interest and focus if you just ride him around in the ring at a trot or canter. So, we change it up by asking him for transitions. Seems to keep his mind on you much better.

Home Sweet Home for Dixon’s Chief

Jul 27, 2008

Dixons Chief arrived about 10pm last night. He is a cutie! His pictures did not due him justice! Where I have my boys at there is a very narrow one-lane road that leads to the barn, so I had the shipper…
