Rocky Bear & Elizabeth

Rocky Bear and Bits & Bytes Farm owner - Elizabeth

This Web site was created to tell the stories of the Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds Bits & Bytes Farm has sold. The Mission of Bits & Bytes Farm is to help sellers (of Thoroughbred racehorses for sale) to find buyers who have the ability to transition these horses to new careers. We offer assistance and guidance to make sure the horses we sell are successfully placed. Our Success Stories are proof that Thoroughbred racehorses make great sport horses and family members when their racing careers are over.

When a horse is purchased with the assistance of Bits & Bytes Farm, we require the new owners to stay in touch and provide us with updates. These updates are posted on our Success Stories pages so that the sellers of the horses know that their horses are doing well and have not gone back to racing or been slaughtered. The sellers care about these wonderful Thoroughbreds and they too enjoy reading about their horses' successful new careers. They often call or e-mail to thank us for finding a home for a horse they bred or trained. To learn more about Bits & Bytes Farm and our mission please visit our Web site at: www.BitsandBytesFarm.com.

Ides Pride May Be Available For Sale

“Seary” (Ides Pride) is doing well, she is back in work and doing really well. We are jumping x-rails about once a week. The rest of our time has been spent on flat work, still trying to move her muscle back up where it belongs as you can see in the pictures I have attached she has a bit of a baby belly.

Popluar One aka Moose 2008

Why Did the Moose Cross the Road? To Find a Great Home

“Moose”, aka Popular One, is great. He really trusts us. We are absolutely thrilled with him. He is so laid back. He is very calm. I think he loves his new life. We have taken it very slow with him. He is in a pasture during the day with three other geldings and gets along…

Cortableau – One Month Update

Cortableau handled being in an unfamiliar place at the hunter pace – new horses and different terrain with no problem. We actually had our first canter ever a few minutes into the ride, and we did a couple of canters up hills. So I got braver and, when we got to the really big field, we cantered again.

Stevie Loverboy – A Bit of Advice Can Bring New Inspiration

Elizabeth, thank you again for the amazing lesson this afternoon. It was remarkable how quickly Stevie Loverboy calmed down and got to work. He just visibly relaxed and his demeanor changed within a minute of you working with us. I feel like we accomplished more today than we have in the last month! It really reinforced…

Just Three Weeks Off-the-Track, Marvin is Fabulous!

Marvin is fabulous! Marvin is so adorable that I never want to take a step back to snap a picture. I can ride him up to a gate and he’ll stand quietly while I unlatch it, and doesn’t mind helping me close it after we’ve passed through it. Any day of the week, I can hop on him and walk/trot/canter anywhere I want to go without a care in the world.

OTTB Nature is a Natural Hit with His New Family

We got real busy with getting the farm ready for winter (and have not had time to send an update)! Nature aka “Father Nature” is so wonderful, he is a gentle giant! I just got some corrective shoeing done about two weeks ago he’s got lots more heel now. Thank you so much! I would…

OTTB “Sully’s” Sunny Attitude Marvels All

“Sullivan” is finally looking like a grey! His coat has darkened considerably since he has been on night turnout during the summer months. I’m hoping he will keep his black points. He has two pasture buddies, a large retired, carriage pulling draft and another grey. The grey is the same age as “Sully” so it…
