Rocky Bear & Elizabeth

Rocky Bear and Bits & Bytes Farm owner - Elizabeth

This Web site was created to tell the stories of the Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds Bits & Bytes Farm has sold. The Mission of Bits & Bytes Farm is to help sellers (of Thoroughbred racehorses for sale) to find buyers who have the ability to transition these horses to new careers. We offer assistance and guidance to make sure the horses we sell are successfully placed. Our Success Stories are proof that Thoroughbred racehorses make great sport horses and family members when their racing careers are over.

When a horse is purchased with the assistance of Bits & Bytes Farm, we require the new owners to stay in touch and provide us with updates. These updates are posted on our Success Stories pages so that the sellers of the horses know that their horses are doing well and have not gone back to racing or been slaughtered. The sellers care about these wonderful Thoroughbreds and they too enjoy reading about their horses' successful new careers. They often call or e-mail to thank us for finding a home for a horse they bred or trained. To learn more about Bits & Bytes Farm and our mission please visit our Web site at: www.BitsandBytesFarm.com.

Eleanor’s Groom Moves “Beyond the Track”

The Groom (Eleanor’s Groom) is today figuring out his first probable snowfall…three inches! Supposed to melt today and we’ll have another week of warm, sunny fall, I hope. I ponied him through the creek the other day, no problem, guess he’s learned from drinking out of the lake! He’s very smart and a quick study.…

Ready to Show, Ready to Go!

After taking Bobby off the market pending Taylor’s getting to know him a bit, we feel he is ready to be considered by the right rider, so have placed him back on the market. His training and entries in competitions will continue until the right rider and home come along for him, and hopefully his competition record will reflect his obvious talent.

Rule My Heart First Trail Ride

OTTB: Off-Track-Trail-Boss

Seeing Heart walking around out there like he’s been doing it all his life and loving it, it is simply impossible to believe this guy has ever been a race horse. Somewhere along the way to me he must have been confused with another horse 😉 But whoever he is, I’m keeping him… he’s just great! 🙂

Shamuuu Makes a Big Splash!

Wow, what a classy horse. He has an A++ personality. He was good yesterday considering all he’d been through the previous 24 hours, but today I got to see his real personality. I got to the barn and he was the only one in, the others were turned out before I got there, I had…

Tax Hike - OTTB Learning to jump

Taxi Learns to Jump!

Hi Elizabeth, Taxi continues to be amazing. It’s hard to believe she’s only been with us for 11 months. She is so smart and so sweet. She totally trusts Cait which translates into her doing amazing things, like jumping at a new barn in deep puddles (after a monsoon) without questioning the jumps or the…

Crowd Catcher is a Crowd Pleaser

Crowd Catcher is a crowd pleaser – Everyone loves “CC” at the farm and are spoiling her with apples, carrots, and lots of rubs and pets 🙂

A Little Weight Gain Needed – No Objections from Little Silic

“Shaman” and I are doing great. He has gained some much needed weight, and he has actually been deemed “fat” by my vet since these pictures were taken. All I can say is that I love him and I cannot imagine ever parting with him! Barbara

Show and Tell with the Bank President

Banker and I have had our first ride which was fun and interesting. It feels like a long way up when you sit on him, thankfully I stayed up there = ). He took the first few minutes to show me what a “feel good” horse he is and I showed him that its not my first time. After the “show and tell” time we settled into a nice trotting circle. That is pretty much all we’ve been able to do as he is still recovering and I don’t want to push it with him.

Amanda Meets Allegiant

Amanda meets her off-the-track Thoroughbred Allegiant for the first time. It was our pleasure to have the opportunity to work with Allegiant during her first week off-the-track. We are happy to help any of our buyers with their new purchase.

Great Game at her breeders farm in July 2011

If Wishes Were Horses, Then Beggars Would Ride

I sure wish I had had a clue just how good thoroughbreds are to work with years ago…..I do soooo enjoy it—they really are a horse all thier own just as much as any Arab… One of these days I may get lucky with lotto or something in which case I would need to to find me one of my very own…lol. Thanks again for all of the pleasure and wholeness you introduced back into the family thru Sush—prayers and best hoping you find homes for all those other “Sush’s” you are working for right now….and ps—-how is my girl Great Game looking?—any chances for her to find someone yet?—I sure hope so…..
