My First Ride on Brat Maverick!
Even though all I did was walk on a lunge line I felt an amazing thrill. The most surprising thing was how calm and collected he was. Even though I had read about it on the website, there was a part of me that still finds it hard to believe. It was only after my ride was over that I thought about the fact that I had just ridden a former race horse. Oh my gosh, what a an amazing experience.
Lounging Around
The girl is working nicely, she is still loungeing…lots of energy to it and not a lot of style–but willing–listens up pretty well to voice command…esp since has been 6 years since she retired…. I put a saddle on her along with the bridle and surcingle today to work—she really paid attn to that…she jazzed right up once it was on–

I sure wish I had had a clue just how good thoroughbreds are to work with years ago…..I do soooo enjoy it—they really are a horse all thier own just as much as any Arab… One of these days I may get lucky with lotto or something in which case I would need to to find me one of my very own…lol. Marvin has gained weight nicely, and the vet wants him to gain another 200 pounds! With the added weight and cooler temperatures, Marvin is feeling more ambitious. Nevertheless, he is always safe and sane. I can’t say enough nice things about him.
(The) Bank President Loves Jumping
Bank President aka “Banker” has had a busy summer of training in his new life and we finally did our first horse show in August. Not sure which one of us was more nervous entering the ring. We started in the baby jumpers but moved on quickly to level one and two. He was quite naughty in the baby class with the small jumps and lots of time to play. So at the risk of scaring him we moved him up. I don’t know what he was like on the track but this horse has some pluck! He was brave, willing and double clear!
